The Parliament of Morocco has passed a new law on civil status, recognizing the terms ‘androgen’ and ‘hermaphrodite’ as third sex in birth certificates and providing the opportunity for sex change, MEM reported.
The law “allows one to register a hermaphrodite in case there is a required medical document indicating the sex of the newborn”. “Later, in case of sex change of the hermaphrodite, the sex will be changed based on the decision of a competent court,” MEM added.
