U.S. is exploiting unrests in Syria to break up the alliance between Tehran and Damask, said Iranian top official.

“They are trying to harm Syria, because Syria is the main outpost of opposition to Israel in the region,” said Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast, MIGnews.com reports.

Mehmanparast also said the alliance between Syria and Iran is a threat not only to Israel but to Western interests in the Middle East.
