YEREVAN. - It is unknown whether Russia’s efforts are honest in the process of regulating Karabakh conflict, as there is no honesty in politics and every side tries to promote its interests, research associate at London Middle East Institute Ali Grenmayeh said at a discussion at Armenian center for strategic and national researches on Monday.

“No matter how much Iran wants to be a mediator on Karabakh conflict resolution, it forgets about Russia’s major role in the region concerning Armenia and Azerbaijan. Thus, Iran wants to be a mediator between Armenian and Azerbaijan and strengthen its positions in the Southern Caucasus,” Grenmayeh stated.

However, he doubts that Iran can carry out its mission of a mediator in the presence a major regional mediator Russia.
