The visit of the Czech foreign minister will give a new impetus to the relations and will give an opportunity to re-evaluate the potential of cooperation in political, economic and other spheres. Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated about this during Friday’s joint news briefing after his meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhanek, who is in Yerevan on a working visit.

According to Mirzoyan, Armenian-Czech relations are based on mutual respect and interest, as well as shared values, the parties attach importance to cooperation in the format of an intergovernmental commission—whose fifth meeting will be held in Yerevan next month—and interparliamentary cooperation, and the two parties have expressed readiness to take steps to realize their potential in several domains.

The visiting Czech FM is accompanied by a delegation of Czech businessmen who are attending in the Armenian-Czech Business Forum being held in Yerevan. The members of the delegation will have a number of meetings, too. "I am convinced that this will yield results," the Armenian FM said. He informed that there was an exchange of views on also Armenia-EU cooperation and in the format of the EU Eastern Partnership.

In his turn, Jakub Kulhanek expressed an opinion that the break in Armenian-Czech relations—and which was due to the coronavirus pandemic—is over. Armenia is an important country for the Czech Republic, he added, welcoming Armenia's progress after 2018. According to him, the two countries have untapped potential in economic cooperation.
