According to Armenian News-NEWS.am, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia Stepan Galstyan is detained.

The National Security Service of Armenia has launched a criminal case regarding a tender for arms and ammunition carried out by the Ministry of Defense in 2011, and Stepan Galstyan has also been interviewed within the scope of this case. According to our reports, signature was chosen as a pre-trial measure.

A few days ago, the National Security Service conducted searches in the apartments of former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Stepan Galstyan and former head of the Aviation Department of the Armed Forces Avetik Muradyan, even the apartment of Tonoyan’s mother. It’s not clear what the investigators were hoping to find after the case was launched. The presses only disseminated news according to which the law-enforcement authorities were searching for documents and money.

Last night, the court ruled to arrest Davit Tonoyan and weapons supplier Davit Galstyan (a.k.a. Patron Davit) for two months.
