At the National Assembly, the MPs once again debated on how to interpret the law "On the administrative-territorial division of Armenia."

In particular, it is about determining the border with Azerbaijan.

The secretary of the opposition "Hayastan" Faction, Artsvik Minasyan, asked Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan to clarify the matter of the communities in the east of Syunik Province.

"If the territory of Azerbaijan starts east of Shurnukh, Vorotan, and a number of other villages, does it mean that the state border of Armenia is determined by that law?" Minasyan asked.

In response, Terteryan admitted that he had never heard any substantiation where it was said that the state borders are determined by the law on administrative-territorial division.

"I hope you will not face administrative consequences for such an answer. Well, if these authorities are against such wording, then nothing prevented former Minister [and now deputy PM] Suren Papikyan from proposing addenda to that law in three years. But you did not do that. It turns out that you also agree with such wordings," said Artur Khachatryan, an MP of the "Armenia" Faction.

Also, he drew attention to the fact that the aforesaid law does not state where the territory of Azerbaijan begins.

"Moreover, there is no border delimitation agreement with that country yet," the opposition lawmaker added.
