It’s hard to expect anything good from the Putin-Aliyev-Pashinyan meeting. This is what secretary of the opposition “With Honor” faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Hayk Mamijanyan told reporters today.
According to him, the alleged negotiators of the Armenian side need to be able to lead the negotiations in such a way that the status of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) is maintained and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is settled within the scope of the OSCE Minsk Group since the enemy is constantly trying to move these issues to other levels, and this is diplomatic suicide from Armenia’s perspective. “The de-occupation of Shushi and Hadrut and the status of Artsakh must always be kept on the agenda,” he stated.
The deputy believes it is logical that Aliyev doesn’t want to see shift of power in Armenia since his partners are in power, and only the two presidents of Armenia and several opposition MPs respond to his belligerent statements.
“There are very few pro-Armenian provisions in the agreement signed on November 9, 2020. The only provision that can be referred to as pro-Armenian was the return of captives, but this wasn’t possible. Now the Armenian side is offering something else for the return of our compatriots. Nikol Pashinyan had the mine maps right from the start. Our compatriots were tortured in Baku, and some of them were returned as propaganda ahead of the elections. In response to Speaker Alen Simonyan’s statement that the reports of the Human Rights Defender are made up, I can only say that this is a real nightmare,” he added.
