The Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia confirms that a flight with the Baku-Nakhchivan route was carried out Wednesday through the airspace of the Republic of Armenia (RA), the committee noted in a statement.

"The use of the airspaces of both the Republic of Armenia and Azerbaijan has not been restricted for civilian aircrafts, except during the period of the 44-day war [last fall].

The flights on the mentioned route have carried out continuously before, too, until November 8, 2014, after which the Azerbaijani side stopped, on its own initiative, using the airspace of the Republic of Armenia.

During all this time, flights from Zvartnots airport [of Yerevan] to other countries and in the opposite direction have been carried out and continue to be carried out through the airspace of Azerbaijan.

We should also add that a transit flight permit is not issued by the RA aviation authorities, as according to the procedures, no permit is required for the implementation of transit flights by civil aircrafts.

The authority to choose the airways is reserved for the aircraft operators," the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia added.
