A new meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan is not ruled out in Baku.

"The Azerbaijani side is always open for dialogue, and we prefer to resolve any disagreement through negotiations. In the post-conflict phase, we have repeatedly stated our readiness for talks with the Armenian side," said Leyla Abdullayeva, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

"We [i.e., Azerbaijan] consider it useful to discuss issues related to the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. A meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia took place in New York [recently]. We do not rule out holding such a meeting in the future [as well]," she added.

According to her, "at present, serious attention should be paid to the implementation of the joint statements."

"We [i.e., Azerbaijan] believe that the opening of communications, the start of border delimitation talks can lay a solid foundation for further progress and establishing lasting peace in the region," Abdullayeva added.

It should be noted, however, that it is the Azerbaijani side that does not fulfill the provisions of the aforesaid statements.
