Armenia’s Minister of Justice Karen Andreasyan yesterday met with Minister of Justice of Italy Marta Cartabria in Rome.

As reported the Armenian Ministry of Justice, Minister Andreasyan emphasized that the Government of Armenia is interested in conveying a new stimulus to the Armenia-Italy relations.

Andreasyan told his Italian counterpart about the activities that the government has carried out in the justice sector over the past three years and touched upon Armenia’s anti-corruption agenda, human rights protection, as well as police reforms and reforms in the penitentiary system.

During the conversation, Andreasyan stressed that the Armenian government has succeeded in creating new and transparent institutions with the support of international, including European partners. In this context, he expressed his gratitude to Italy for introducing the Strengthening Anti-Corruption Reforms in Armenia Program through which the OSCE is helping the Armenian government establish the Anti-Corruption Committee.

The Armenian justice minister also invited Marta Cartabria to visit Armenia.

The meeting was followed by the signing of a memorandum that will contribute to the deepening of cooperation between the Academies of Justices of both countries.
