There is always a threat of war, but I don’t think it is possible in the near future. This is what former Minister of Defense of Armenia, leader of the opposition “Armenia” faction of the National Assembly Seyran Ohanyan told reporters today.

According to Ohanyan, there are certain threats in the region that mainly arise from the cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan, but the Armenian authorities haven’t conducted a proper analysis of those threats.

“I believe it is the format of this tandem that compelled Iran to hold military exercises, which are aimed at ensuring security within Iran’s borders. Nevertheless, it is necessary to have possess information in order to give a realistic evaluation and draw conclusions on the possible launch of combat operations, and the Security Council, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces possess this information. I believe there is always a threat of war, but I don’t think it is realistic in the near future,” Ohanyan added.
