Six foreign nationals have been detained in Turkey on suspicion of espionage, CNN Turk reports.

Turkish special services carried out this operation in Istanbul and Antalya.

The nationality of these detainees, however, is not reported.

During the operation, weapons and Russian passports were found in their possession; but it is not clear at this time whether these documents are fake.

According to CNN Turk, these detainees were planning attacks on foreigners in order to obtain confidential information.

They are charged with "political and military espionage."
