The rally led by Member of Parliament of Georgia Tako Tcharkviani is currently taking place with the demand for snap parliamentary elections and the release of ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili at Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, Sputnik Georgia reports.

The rally has gathered several hundreds of people who have brought the Georgian national flag and photos of Mikheil Saakashvili with them.

“The country is in mourning, and I have heard opinions that now is the time to keep silent, but I would like to say that now is not the time to keep silent,” Tcharkviani said.

According to him, the citizens on Rustaveli are also protesting against corruption in which Georgian Dream Party has become indulged, and it is corruption that has led to the collapse of the residential building in Batumi.

With this, the gathered are paying tribute to the victims of the tragedy that happened in Batumi.

“Mikheil Saakashvili is not just the leader of a political party. He is the president of Georgia,” Tcharkviani said.
