US President Joe Biden said that the authorities are ready to start vaccinating children aged 5 to 11 against coronavirus from next week, TASS reports.

More than 28 million young Americans are now eligible for a vaccine that will protect against COVID-19, he said. Biden added that his administration has been preparing to start the campaign to vaccinate children from day one, and now it is ready.

The President noted that the authorities have provided a sufficient number of doses of vaccine for every child in the United States aged 5 to 11 years old, and it will be possible to vaccinate a child at 20 thousand points throughout the country, including in schools, hospitals and pharmacies.

Earlier, the US Department of Health and Human Services approved vaccination against COVID-19 in children aged 5-11 years with a drug developed by the American pharmaceutical manufacturer Pfizer in conjunction with the German company BioNTech.

Later, the decision was officially approved by the US Centers for Disease Control.
