In 2022, 1 billion 155 million drams (approx. US$2.4 million) are planned to be allocated to the border communities of Armenia. The minister of territorial administration and infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan, stated about this at the parliamentary standing committees’ joint debates Friday on the country’s draft state budget for 2022.

Thus, as per Sanosyan, according to the draft state budget for 2022, a total of 335 billion 257 million drams will be allocated to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, of which 209 billion 594 million drams will be directed to capital expenditures.

"At the same time, 125 billion 663 million drams will be allocated for current expenses," he added.

Sanosyan noted that his ministry plans to implement eight major programs in the total amount of 131 billion 40 million drams. At the same time, 1 billion 155 million drams will be allocated for assistance to the border settlements.

"It is planned to provide assistance to the residents of 81 settlements of 23 communities in five provinces of Armenia. The assistance will be provided in the form of payments for the use of natural gas, electricity, irrigation water, etc. Other privileges are also envisaged," the minister explained.

Sanosyan added that it is planned to allocate about 18 billion drams for subsidizing the provinces.
