I have viewpoints that I don’t hide — yes, Armenia needs to have good relations with everyone in the world. This is what President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian said in an interview with “Argumenty i Fakty” newspaper.

“I would like for the problems with Azerbaijan to be solved, even though this is a complicated issue. It would be nice to have good relations with Turkey, and this is even more difficult. After all, how can the history be forgotten? Armenia is responsible for its decisions not only before the citizens of Armenia, but also all Armenians, and even more, and these people might ask more sensitive questions in the future,” Sarkissian said.

Asked if he views the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation as possible or all is lost forever, Sarkissian said the following: “The response is trivial. Nothing lasts forever, neither the ultimate victory nor the ultimate defeat. Anything is possible. France and Germany battled each other for over a century, but everything changed after WWII. I believe Turkey needs to take the initiative. There needs to be tolerance in terms of culture, history, monuments, religion, the church and everything else. Nothing will work out, if there is no mutual respect.”
