Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan today held phone talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

According to the press release issued by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mirzoyan and Lavrov discussed a broad range of issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The interlocutors also touched upon the course of fulfillment of the commitments assumed by the parties under the trilateral statement signed on November 9, 2020. In this context, Mirzoyan emphasized the need for unconditional repatriation of the Armenian prisoners of war and other persons held as hostages in Azerbaijan, as well as maintenance of the ceasefire regime.

The Armenian foreign minister strongly condemned the Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ ongoing provocations, as a result of the last one of which one civilian died and three civilians were wounded in the vicinity of Shushi today. Mirzoyan highlighted the fact that the Armenophobic rhetoric and continuous ceasefire violations of Azerbaijan’s leadership pose a serious threat to regional stability and security.

During the conversation, the parties discussed regional and global issues and touched upon further development of the allied relations between Armenia and Russia.
