Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar is satisfied with the work of the Russian-Turkish joint monitoring center at the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, and he stubbornly does not see the provocations of Azerbaijan.

At a joint press conference in the Azerbaijani capital Baku with Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, Akar said that the powers and boundaries of the Russian-Turkish joint monitoring center are known.

"Every effort is made to strengthen the center's activities within the defined framework. Our goal is to maintain the ceasefire and, besides, to stabilize the region. In this task we have shown and continue to show seriousness, sincerity, friendship. There is no case of abuse," Hulusi Akar said.

To note however, the Azerbaijani armed forces carried out a provocation Monday in the direction of Shushi city. An Azerbaijani soldier penetrated the territory subject to Artsakh and shot at a group of workers repairing a waterline. One person was killed and three others were injured as a result. In fact, by such behavior, the Azerbaijani side not only tries to discredit the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, but also questions the effectiveness of the aforesaid monitoring center.
