Azerbaijan is attempting to include Artsakh’s (Nagorno-Karabakh) occupied Armenian Shushi in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

According to Azerbaijani media, in November it was decided to include 49 cities in this network, which includes the Azerbaijani city of Lankaran, with the theme "Gastronomy."

Currently, this network includes 295 cities from 90 countries.

Azerbaijani capital Baku has been included in this network since 2019—on the topic of "Design," and the Azerbaijani city of Sheki since 2017—on the topic of " Crafts and Folk Art."
