Construction of a new energy bloc of the nuclear power plant is being planned and considered, and taking into consideration the fact that after the discussions we have come to the conclusion that the operating nuclear power plant may operate until the year 2036, we need to prepare and build the new bloc until 2036. This is what Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan stated during today’s press conference in Armavir Province when asked about the programs and when the new energy bloc of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant will be built.

According to him, based on rough calculations, this will take 7-8 years. “We can consider 10 years. This means we need to start building the new nuclear power plant in 2026 or 2027 so that the new nuclear power plant will start operating when the term of the previous one expires,” he said.
