A year has passed since a fragile ceasefire was established in the zone of the Azerbaijan-Artsakh conflict. All this time, on a daily basis, the authorities of Artsakh have been trying to solve various problems that emerged after the war, with the support of Armenia, the Armenian Diaspora and the Russian peacekeeping forces. This is stated in the statement issued by President of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan.

“However, sometimes the Azerbaijani side violates both the provisions of the high-level statement signed a year ago and the agreements on daily activities. This is the case in both the case of violations of the ceasefire regime on the line of contact and in the last two incidents that resulted in the death and injury of civilians. The targets of Azerbaijan’s act were citizens of Artsakh, as well as Russian peacekeepers. The goal is to make the people of Artsakh panic and try to discredit the Russian peacekeeping mission.

I would like to briefly touch upon what is being done during this period to strengthen the ceasefire ensured by the Defense Army of Artsakh and the peacekeepers, as well as to resolve other security issues.

1. Amendments to the Law "On Weapons" will expand the possibilities of acquiring weapons.

2. From now on, the relevant units of law enforcement agencies will be even more actively involved in the work to ensure the safety of settlements and roads, carried out in the territories near the contact line. In this regard, I ask all citizens and organizations to contact the Artsakh National Security Service in the event of work in these territories.

3. Of course, this year a lot has been done to strengthen the front line and ensure the proper performance of the functions of Artsakh National Security Service.

4. We also work with Russian peacekeepers on a daily basis to prevent security threats and resolve problems. Through various, mostly invisible efforts, we will do our best to constantly improve the level of security of our population, using both our own potential and the military-political guarantees provided by the Russian peacekeeping forces. Once again I thank the Russian peacekeeping troops in Artsakh, the command and personally the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for the efforts made,” the statement also reads.
