Based on the results of a vote in parliament, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey passed a law on extending the mandate of Turkish soldiers in Azerbaijan for a year, RIA Novosti reports.

The bill states the importance of continuation of operation of the Russian-Turkish joint monitoring center in Aghdam which “contributes to security and the formation of an atmosphere of confidence between the parties”.

The term of the mission of Turkish soldiers in Azerbaijan will be extended for a year starting from November 17.

On November 17, 2020, the Turkish parliament approved the presidential decree on sending Turkish soldiers to Azerbaijan. Based on the decree, they could stay in Azerbaijan for one year.
