Member of Republic Party Bagrat Zakaryan has been elected Mayor of Meghri. Member of the political party Ani Khachatryan reported this on her Facebook page, adding the following:

“Out of 15 votes, Bagrat Zakaryan garnered 8 votes in favor and was elected Mayor of Meghri.”

Based on the results of the local self-government elections held on October 17, Aram Sargsyan’s Republic Party won in Meghri. The voter turnout was 59.47% of citizens eligible to vote, and there were four political parties running in Meghri, including Republic Party, Civil Contract Party, Liberal Party and Country of Living Party.

On November 3, it was announced that Samvel Babayan’s Liberal Party and Aram Sargsyan’s Republic Party had signed a coalitional memorandum in Meghri city of Syunik Province.

Bagrat Zakaryan was first on the electoral list of Republic Party. Based on the final results of the elections of Council of Elders of Meghri, the mandates will be distributed in the following way: 6 mandates for Republic Party, 5 mandates for Civil Contract Party, 2 mandates for Liberal Party and 2 mandates for Country of Living Party.
