In addition to deputies of the ruling Civil Contract Party, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan was also invited to the special session of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia. This is what Chair of the Committee, deputy of the opposition “With Honor” Alliance Taguhi Tovmasyan said during a special discussion with opposition MPs today.
According to Tovmasyan, the Committee had planned to ask the Prime Minister some questions.
“On what ground was it declared that the Azerbaijani checkpoint is located in the territory of the Republic of Armenia?
Has there really been demarcation and delimitation (the Prime Minister could make such a statement only the basis of demarcation and delimitation)?
On what legal ground and on the basis of what map is it declared that the checkpoint is beyond the territory of Armenia? The state border is changed through an amendment to the Law on State Border of the Republic of Armenia, but there haven’t been legislative amendments. So, from the legal perspective, this situation is problematic?
How will people move and how will goods be moved safely when there are Azerbaijani customs and border control points?
What problems may citizens face while traveling along the Grois-Kapan motorway? How will the rights of the citizens of Armenia to life, freedom of movement and other fundamental rights be protected?
We anticipate clarifications from the government, but we haven’t received any response to this day,” Tovmasyan clarified.
