Millions of Austrians who haven’t gotten vaccinated against the coronavirus may be quarantined. Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg says there are only a few days left before millions of people who haven’t gotten fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be quarantined since the numbers of daily infections are at a high level of all times, and intensive care units are becoming more and more overcrowded, Reuters reports.

The national statistics show that nearly 65% of the population of Austria are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Austria is one of the countries of Western Europe with the lowest level of vaccinations, except for little Lichtenstein. Many Austrians are skeptical about vaccinations.

According to the government’s additional plan, if patients with COVID-19 occupy 30% of beds at intensive care units, unvaccinated people will be isolated, and their daily movements will be restricted. Currently, the beds are 20% occupied, and the number is growing quickly.
