Turkey and Qatar have agreed to strengthen their military cooperation, Daily Sabah reports.

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar met with his Qatari counterpart Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah in Istanbul to discuss cooperation in the defense industry and military preparation.

Turkey has a military base in Qatar where it has also deployed additional troops as a sign of support to the Saudi Arabia-led boycott in Qatar.

Over the past few years, the two countries have signed a few defense agreements. According to Reuters, Qatar is launching six Turkish Bayraktar TB2 combat drones. It is also reported that Doha has invested in the production of a new Bayraktar Akinci UAV.
