The recently re-elected mayor of Goris continues to remain behind bars on illegal grounds. This is what deputy of the opposition “Armenia” faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Ashot Simonyan said to Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan during today’s session of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection today. Simonyan added that yesterday a decision was rendered for the illegal arrest of Deputy Mayor Menua Hovsepyan and asked who will perform the duties of the mayor in this case.

In response, the deputy minister said he was amazed and voiced hope that one of the mayors will be released soon. Nevertheless, the deputy went on to say the following: “Who will perform the duties of the mayor? Can you bring a specific example?” In response, Terteryan mentioned that ‘the Council of Elders of the city will bring a specific example’.
