The Armenian side views the documents included in the agenda as manifestation of the efforts of CIS countries to promote economic cooperation, increase competitiveness of the economies of CIS countries and strengthen the positions of those economies in the global system. This is what Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan said in his speech during the session of the Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS.

“It’s clear that the advancement of high technologies plays a crucial role in ensuring security and raising the living standard of the population. In the modern world, digitization, innovation and the latest technologies are considered key tools for further increase of effectiveness of the public administration system, creation of a favorable business climate, ensuring of ongoing economic growth, etc.

In this context, I would like to mention the importance of a complex plan for implementation of the interstate project for cooperation of CIS countries in innovation activities before 2030. Taking into consideration the inevitable advancement of digital technologies, proper attention must be paid to the problems with legal protection of intellectual property.

The adoption of a treaty on cooperation for protection of copyright and related rights in the information and telecommunication networks will allow to combine efforts of CIS countries to protect the rights of intellectual property in the digital environment.

The Armenian side also supports the adoption of the presented documents regarding the coordinated actions for further enhancement of the defensibility of CIS countries.

I must also mention the role of the cultural aspect of our cooperation. Preservation of the traditions of folk arts, historical and cultural heritage, heritage in the fields of arts and literature and appropriation of folk arts and crafts are factors for our countries’ cooperation. In this regard, Armenia welcomes the adoption of an action plan to host a year of folk arts and cultural heritage in CIS countries in 2022.

Summing up, I would like to mention that Armenia will continue its active and constructive work to consistently promote the joint initiatives for mutually beneficial cooperation.”
