Minister of Defense of Armenia Suren Papikyan today had a telephone conversation with Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, army general Sergey Shoygu, as reported the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

During the phone talks, the Armenian defense minister presented the situation created in the northeastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border following the provocation of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on Nov. 16. Suren Papikyan emphasized that the invasion of the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia is a gross violation of the provisions stated in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020 and puts the whole process of negotiations at risk.

The Russian defense minister expressed willingness to make maximum efforts to stop the hostilities, return the prisoners of war and solve the situation.
