At the end of the day, the adversary [Azerbaijan] lost the advantages it had before the end of the day, and we retrieved many military positions. This is what Chair of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of Armenia Andranik Kocharyan said in an interview aired on Armenian Public Television, touching upon the battles that took place during the day as a result of Azerbaijan’s attack on the eastern border of Armenia and the current operative situation.

“At this moment, the situation is calm. Before coming to this interview, I talked to the commander of the second army corps who confirmed the fact that the situation is stable. There is still a hotbed for tension in Ishkhanasar, but I believe there won’t be tension by the time this interview is over. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan suffered casualties. Azerbaijan also lost quite a lot of armored vehicles. Our army fought and, for the time being, imposed a ceasefire,” Kocharyan said.

According to the recent press release of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, according to an agreement reached through mediation of the Russian side, starting from 6:30 p.m. firing has stopped in the eastern direction of Armenia’s border, and the situation is relatively stable.

“On Nov. 16, at around 1 p.m., the units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan launched an attack on the Armenian military posts deployed in the given direction. The adversary also used artillery, armored vehicles and firearms of various calibers.
