The goal of the OSCE Minsk Group in the process of negotiations is to reach the milestone for the signing of a peace treaty. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan declared during today’s question-and-answer session with government officials in parliament, responding to deputy of the “Civil Contract” faction Lena Nazaryan’s question about what he thinks about Azerbaijan’s offer to sign a peace treaty.

“Armenia has also offered and is offering Azerbaijan to sign a peace treaty, and Armenia has said that the goal of the OSCE Minsk Group in the process of negotiations is to reach a milestone for the signing of the peace treaty. It’s strange that Azerbaijan says it constantly offers Armenia to sign a peace treaty and there is no response from Armenia. When Armenia talks about restoration of the negotiation process and are involved in the process, our goal is to sign a peace treaty, but before that, the text of the peace treaty needs to be agreed upon. This will be rather extensive, but we have expressed willingness and consider it our agenda,” he mentioned.

Nazaryan cited the statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov according to which it is necessary to solve the issue of demarcation through a relevant commission and start the process of demarcation which will help ease the tension on the border, and asked the Prime Minister to comment on this.

“Delimitation and demarcation of the borders are on our agenda, and we have stated this in the government’s program. Consequently, if Azerbaijan also accepts this agenda, we need to understand what is disturbing Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan responded.
