At Thursday’s Cabinet session of the government, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan to provide information on the course of construction of alternative roads in Syunik Province of Armenia.

Sanosyan informed that there are seven such roads that are constantly talked about, and provided respective details.

Pashinyan responded that dirt roads need to be constructed on those directions as soon as possible and they need to be drivable for all types of vehicles and in all seasons.

"With the start of the construction season [next spring], we will asphalt those roads," he added.

Pashinyan noted that they have a plan to build one or two additional roads, which they will now start implementing.

"There is no settlement [in Syunik] where there is a problem of livelihood or, in general, it is cut off, it is under blockade [by Azerbaijan]," the Prime Minister assured.
