Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan today received the delegation led by Vice-President of the Lithuanian Seimas Andrius Mazuronis, as reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

Minister Mirzoyan presented in detail the subsequent aggression unleashed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the sovereign territory of Armenia, adding that Azerbaijan’s destructive and expansionist policy, as well as the threats that the country’s leadership has been making to use force against Armenia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty for months and the aggressive rhetoric pose a serious threat to regional security and stability. In this context, Mirzoyan attached special importance to the addressable and proper response of the international community to prevent further provocations of the Azerbaijani side and contribute to discharge of the situation in the region.

The Vice-President of the Lithuanian Seimas affirmed Lithuania’s principled position that the borders can’t be changed through the use of force of the threat of use of force.

The interlocutors attached importance to the close cooperation hinged on the traditionally friendly relations and common democratic values. Mazuronis highly appreciated the snap parliamentary elections held in June and the course of democratic reforms.

Mirzoyan and Mazuronis also discussed the effective cooperation between Armenia and Lithuania within the scope of the Armenia-EU partnership. They also underscored the need for a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh under the mandate of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Touching upon the humanitarian issues that require urgent solutions, the parties attached importance to the repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages and other persons held in Azerbaijan.
