By the decrees of President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, the three servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia, including Senior Lieutenant Taron Sahakyan, Private Gurgen Sargsyan and Junior Sergeant Meruzhan Harutyunyan, who were killed during the Azerbaijani attack on the eastern border of Armenia on Nov. 16, have been posthumously awarded medals for their courage and unconditional dedication while defending the borders of the homeland.
On Nov. 16, during fighting that took place after the Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ attack on the eastern border of Armenia, the Armenian side, according to the current information, has 6 casualties, including Senior Lieutenant Taron Sahakyan, Junior Sergeant Meruzhan Harutyunyan, Private Gurgen Sargsyan, Junior Sergeant Artur Martirosyan and Private Davit Amiryan. Another deceased serviceman has yet to be identified.
After fighting that lasted a few hours, ceasefire was established through Russia’s mediation. As a result of the fighting, the Armenian Armed Forces lost two military posts.
