Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev have agreed to establish a direct communication line, at the level of the respective defense ministers, to prevent the incidents around Nagorno-Karabakh. This is stated in the statement of the European Council issued following the phone talks that President of the European Council Charles Michel had with the leaders of the two countries on Friday.

“During the phone calls, the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders have also agreed to establish a direct communication line, at the level of respective Ministers of Defence, to serve as an incident prevention mechanism,” the statement reads.
