The L.A. Orbeli Institute of Physiology at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia has won the $300,000-dollar grant of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the aim of which is to create a biomedical imaging network for former Soviet countries.

During a conversation with Armenian News-NEWS.am, the Institute’s director, PhD in Biological Sciences Naira Aivazyan said this is the first case when Armenian scientists are receiving a grant from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Foundation, which was established by founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan.

Founded in 2015, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative’s goal is to seek paths “to cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of the 21st century’.
