Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev discussed bilateral relations and the situation in the Caucasus, Mehr reported.

During the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian expressed satisfaction with the growth of trade relations, “describing the liberation of Azerbaijani lands as the start of a new chapter in the economic relations of the two countries”.

Touching upon Iran’s opportunities in the areas of engineering and technology, Amir-Abdollahian announced Iranian companies’ willingness to participate in the restoration of the recently ‘liberated’ territories and emphasized the need to ease restrictions on travel and restoration of flights between the two countries.

The Iranian foreign minister pinpointed the unchanged position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in defense of the countries’ territorial integrity and underscored the fact that the international borders in the region will remain unchanged.

In his turn, the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan expressed satisfaction with the constructive meetings with the Iranian oil and transport ministers during his visit to Tehran and declared that the two countries are close to reaching historic agreements in the sectors of oil, natural gas and transport.
