Right after the latest attacks launched by Azerbaijan, the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia started exploring the videos about captured Armenian servicemen, as well as translating them from Azerbaijani and identifying them. This is what Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“Currently, there are 21 videos and 6 photos.

We’re in contact with the families of the Armenian servicemen in captivity.

After the works are completed, the mentioned materials will be properly studied and will be transferred to international organizations and organizations in Armenia as reliable evidence in order for those organizations to use them to bring back our compatriots being held in captivity.

According to the Human Rights Defender, the fact that a serviceman or civilian is in captivity needs to be recorded when, for instance, the video shows that the serviceman or civilian is under the control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces or Azerbaijani authorities. In this case, failure to confirm shall not exempt them from liability. In the past, there have been several cases when the fact of captivity has been confirmed in the videos, but the Azerbaijani authorities haven’t confirmed it,” the Facebook post reads.
