The letter dated 16 November 2021 from the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations addressed to the President of the United Nations Security Council has been published as an official document of the Security Council, as reported the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations.

On Nov. 16, at around 1 p.m., the units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan attacked Armenian military posts deployed in a particular direction of the border, using also artillery, armored vehicles and firearms of various calibers. Based on the latest data of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, the Armenian side has 6 casualties, 13 servicemen are in captivity, and over a dozen servicemen are currently missing in action. According to an agreement reached after Russian mediation, there is ceasefire in the eastern direction of Armenia’s border starting from Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

However, after the agreement was reached, the Azerbaijani side has violated the ceasefire regime a few times. Today, at around 6:10 p.m., the units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan opened fire at the Armenian military posts on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, particularly Norabak village of Gegharkunik Province with firearms of various calibers, after which 19-year-old conscript, Private Suren Safaryan received a lethal firearm injury. The firing stopped at 7:30 p.m., according to the press release of the Armenian Ministry of Defense.
