YEREVAN. – Past daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: According to Past newspaper’s information, quite serious controversies have arisen between the political authorities and the investigative body of Armenia over the [criminal] case of Davit Galstyan (Patron Davit), the head of the company supplying arms to Armenia, and Davit Tonoyan, the RA former Minister of Defense.
The thing is that the political authorities, led by [PM] Nikol Pashinyan, want to keep Galstyan and Tonoyan in custody, to give such "content" to the case that the reason for the defeat in the [Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)] war [last year] can be "thrown into” their “pockets," too.
However, the investigation team, according to our sources, can no longer "create" grounds to keep them in custody. The thing is that, in particular, at the court hearing on the matter of Patron Davit's pretrial measure, the defense submitted evidence that completely refutes the theories that, for example, the delivered goods were of poor quality and out of date.
On the other hand, no examination is carried out, and the only appointed examination remains incomplete. According to our information, the reason for this is that the whole accusation can be "watered down" as a result of any examination. However, according to the newspaper's sources, the investigative body is no longer able to ensure the implementation of Pashinyan's instructions and, by prolonging the comprehensive investigation of the case, continue to keep Galstyan in custody without any grounds.
