On the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent ensured safe passage of about 1,000 vehicles to Nagorno-Karabakh and back through observation posts and the Lachin corridor per day. This was reported by the press service of the RF Ministry of Defense.
A serviceman of the Russian peacekeeping contingent spoke about the beginning of his service and the fulfillment of the tasks of the peacekeeping forces at an observation post in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Russian peacekeepers ensure the safe passage of transit vehicles through checkpoints. For the purpose of possible provocations, all vehicles are subject to inspection, and, if necessary, their inspection is carried out. On the eve of the New Year, the flow of road transport is significantly increasing, which requires special attention and vigilance from us to monitor compliance with the ceasefire.
Russian peacekeepers provide round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and control over the observance of the ceasefire regime. Twenty-seven observation posts of the Russian peacekeeping forces are located in the Lachin corridor and along the entire contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh.
To serve at observation posts, the Russian peacekeepers are equipped in Ratnik suits. Observation posts are equipped with modern LED floodlights, uninterruptible power supplies and outdoor video surveillance dome cameras.
To coordinate efforts to prevent possible incidents in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, continuous interaction is maintained with the general staffs of the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
