At Tuesday's sitting, the Yerevan Council of Elders elected Levon Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the ruling majority "My Step" Faction, as First Deputy Mayor.

A total of 41 members of the city council took part in the respective voting, of whom 37 voted for, 1 against, 3 abstained.

In his remarks, Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan noted that Hovhannisyan has quite a lot of experience in the banking system, has great success in the financial sphere, and has held various positions.

Levon Hovhannisyan has been the chairman of the finance and budget committee of the Yerevan municipal council since April 2019.

Hrachya Sargsyan, the now former First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, was elected mayor by the Council of Elders on December 22, and therefore his aforesaid position had remained vacant.
