From January 1, 2022, excise rates on alcoholic beverages will rise sharply, which will lead to an even greater increase in prices.

The period from January to November 2021 was marked by an unprecedentedly high inflation rate of 7.1%. Compared to the same period last year, prices for alcoholic beverages increased by 9.2%.

For 11 months of 2021, vodka has risen in price by 13.9%, liqueur - by 13.9%, wine - by 1.3%, grape wine - by 0.9%, beer - by 1.6%, and so on.

If in January-November 2020, the state budget revenue from excise taxes amounted to 110.6 billion drams, then for 11 months of 2021 - 98.7 billion drams, having decreased by 10.7%. Either the consumption of alcoholic beverages has dropped sharply, or the "shadow" has increased.

Without drawing any conclusions from this, the authorities are planning to raise the excise rates again.

From January 1, 2022, the excise tax on 1 liter of vodka will increase by about 30%. Taking into account 20% value added tax, the price will rise by more than 730 drams (about 1.5 dollars). The excise tax on cognac will increase by 36-72 drams. In addition, excise rates on grape wines, beer and fruit vodka will rise by 3%.
