A commission for demarcation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan may be set up soon, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Andrey Rudenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Rudenko recalled that on Nov. 26 in Sochi the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to set up a bilateral commission for demarcation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the advisory support of Russia.
“We proceed from the fact that this will happen soon. We don’t see obstacles that can’t be overcome for implementation of this agreement at the highest level,” he added.
The Russian deputy foreign minister stated that Russia has acted as a mediator ever since the situation escalated in certain sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in May by offering its support for the launch of relevant negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. “I must mention that the incidents aren’t directly linked to the zone of responsibility of Russian peacekeepers,” he emphasized.
