The US President has vowed to impose large-scale sanctions against Russia in case of escalation of the tension on the Ukrainian border.
In a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Joe Biden said that Western countries could impose unprecedented sanctions on Russia in the event of tensions on the border with Ukraine, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters.
"Biden noted that if tensions continue along the Ukrainian border, Western countries will impose large-scale economic, financial, and military sanctions," Ushakov said. "Our president immediately responded to that by saying that if the West decides to impose these unprecedented sanctions under certain conditions, all this could lead to a complete rupture of relations between our countries."
And according to the White House, in the aforesaid telephonic conversation with his Russian counterpart, US President Biden warned Putin about the readiness of Washington and its allies to take decisive action in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine.
