Armenia will chair the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in 2022. Formally, this status was transferred to the country from Tajikistan at the last session of the organization in September 2021, and at the end of this year will go to Belarus.

The member countries of the organization - Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - preside over it in turn in alphabetical order.

The Secretary General is appointed for a period of three years, irrespective of the presidency, while the head of the Permanent Council, by rotation, becomes a representative of the presiding country. Now he is the permanent and plenipotentiary representative of Armenia to the CSTO Viktor Biyagov, and the Prime Minister of the republic Nikol Pashinyan took over as chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
