On the Christmas eve, the servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent ensured the safe entry of about 2,000 vehicles into Nagorno-Karabakh through observation posts and the Lachin corridor, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

In Nagorno-Karabakh, representatives of the Armenian Church celebrate the feast of the Epiphany on January 6, which unites Christmas and Epiphany. This is due to the fact that the Armenian Church did not participate in the Council of Chalcedon in 451, where a separate celebration of Christmas and Epiphany was adopted. Russian servicemen, together with compatriots in the Christian church on the territory of the peacekeeping contingent in Stepanakert, will celebrate Christmas on January 7, and Epiphany on January 19.

“The observation posts of the Russian peacekeeping contingent are operating normally, there is a checkpoint for entry and exit, with document checks and inspection of vehicles,” said Evgeny Karataev, a spokesman for the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

All observation posts are equipped with modern outdoor dome surveillance cameras to monitor the current situation.

To carry out service at night, Russian military personnel of the peacekeeping contingent are equipped in "Warrior" suits with reflective elements. Observation posts are equipped with modern LED floodlights and uninterruptible power supplies.

At twenty-seven observation posts, Russian peacekeepers are conducting round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and control over the observance of the ceasefire regime.
