The foreign ministers of the 30 NATO countries will hold a videoconference to discuss Russia's military activity near Ukraine's borders, as well as develop a position on Moscow's security requirements. The press service of the alliance announced this on Tuesday, January 4, Deutsche Welle reports.

On January 12, for the first time in two and a half years, a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council will be held at the level of ambassadors.

The alliance believes that Moscow is deliberately aggravating the situation on the borders with Ukraine so that the threat of a possible invasion spurred NATO to make concessions.

Russia demands that NATO abandon military activity on the territory of the former post-Soviet states and further expand to the east, as well as renounce Ukraine's entry into the alliance. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has repeatedly emphasized recently that the alliance is ready to negotiate with Russia, but will not allow Moscow to dictate whom to accept into its union and who not.
