By the decision of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Garik Sargsyan has been relieved of the post of Chairman of the State Property Management Committee of Armenia.

And by another decision of Pashinyan, Sargsyan has been appointed acting mayor of Vedi town of Ararat Province.

The Armenian government had decided to terminate the powers of the Vedi town council members early and to call snap elections to the council.

The Vedi councilmember candidates from the ruling Civil Contract Party (CCP) and the Republic Party had submitted petitions for withdrawing their respective candidacies.

According to the results of the local elections held on December 5, the My Strong Community party had received the most votes in Vedi—with 8,666 votes. The CCP had garnered 7690 votes, and the Republic Party—3,299 votes. But no political force got enough votes to form a local government on its own in the town.
