The CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces have been sent to Kazakhstan for a limited time to stabilize the situation there, according to the secretariat of this organization.

These peacekeepers comprise units of the armed forces of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

"The tasks of the CSTO forces sent to Kazakhstan will be the protection of [Kazakh] state and military facilities, as well as assistance to [Kazakh] law enforcement," reads, in part, the respective statement released by the secretariat of this organization.
